WP 2 : Up-scaling approaches in ecotoxicology, from plot to landscape

Workpackage 2 : Up-scaling approaches in ecotoxicology, from plot to landscape, considering several compartments

Leaders : Management Board

Participants : Management Board and Executive Commitee

Objectives :

One present great challenge is to introduce more ecological realism into ecotoxicological studies. That approach faces the major challenge of integrating different aspects of the chemicals and species of concern. Ecotoxicologists, as well as risk assessors, are expressing increasing interest in learning more about both the exposure to and the effects of chemicals at landscape or territory levels. That WP aims at combining observation, experimentation and modeling. By considering gradients of practices and landscape elements spatial organization and interactions, we will consider highly variable exposure patterns to pesticides both in space and time. One interest of RECOTOX will be to develop with time higher scale, such as territorial, even multi-territorial approaches.

  • Added value :
    • Ability to investigate scale transfer in patterns, processes and models among sites,
    • Validation, calibration and testing in real field conditions indicators that will have been developed in controlled (small scale) sites or devices,
  • Deliverables :
    • A network offering various instrumented sites in agroecosystems, for multi-scale approaches in ecotoxicology.
